Following the legislation introduced to facilitate and popularise the installation of GES projects under 10 kWp, Volkan Yılmaz, General Manager of CW Enerji , Türkiye's leading solar panel manufacturer, received the first call letter in the distribution company region covering Antalya, Burdur and Isparta provinces for the roof of his own house.
On 18.01.2018, within the scope of the ‘Procedures and Principles Regarding Unlicensed Generation Applications for Solar Energy Based Generation Facilities Connected from the Same Measurement Point with the Consumption Facility in the Electricity Market and the Evaluation of Surplus Energy’ legislation published in the Official Gazette on 18.01.2018, the first call letter in the distribution company region covering Antalya, Burdur and Isparta provinces came to CW Enerji General Manager Volkan Yılmaz.
On 18.01.2018, the establishment of Solar Power Plants under 10 kWp has become easier thanks to the regulation on ‘Procedures and Principles Regarding Unlicensed Production Applications for Solar Energy Based Production Facilities Connected from the Same Measurement Point with the Consumption Facility in the Electricity Market and Evaluation of Surplus Energy’ published in the Official Gazette. With the regulation published in the Official Gazette on 18 January, it has been made easier to install solar power plants up to 10kWE on roofs and to sell surplus energy to the grid. Following the regulation, the first call letter for the installation of solar power plants under 10 kWp in Antalya by Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. was received by CW Enerji General Manager Volkan Yılmaz for the installation of the roof of his own house. CW Enerji General Manager Volkan Yılmaz said that the shortening of the process with the regulation and the ease of application is pleasing for the photovoltaic sector.
CW Enerji General Manager Volkan Yılmaz stated that with the regulation published in the Official Gazette on 18 January, it is easier to install solar power plants up to 10 KWE on roofs as well as to sell surplus energy to the grid. Stating that especially the distribution periods were shortened with the regulation, Volkan Yılmaz noted the following:
‘The application was made easier, and in case of moving out of the house, the opportunity to transfer the roof power plant to the new owner or tenant of the house was provided. Citizens who want to generate electricity will be able to make their application to the central or provincial unit of the distribution company. Distribution companies will receive the applications on a monthly basis and finalise them by the 20th of the following month. The citizen whose project is approved will be able to start generating electricity and sell the surplus electricity to the distribution company through the existing network. After this regulation, an article related to this issue was included in the omnibus bill sent to the Parliament and currently being discussed in the Plan and Budget Commission. This article contains the following statements: ‘Within the scope of electricity market regulations, income tax and related VAT exemption is introduced for those who sell the electrical energy produced from roof and facade applied renewable energy generation facilities with a maximum installed power of 10 KWE in the residences they own or rent to supply companies. For this reason, we anticipate that the photovoltaic sector will mobilise due to this situation, which provides great convenience.’
