CEO of CW Enerji Tarık Sarvan clarified that in future the humanity will be most effective confronted with climate change. Therefore he mentioned, the usage of fossil fuels should be reduced as much as possible and instead the concentration should be focused to renewable energy resources like the sun and wind.
The atmosphere of our planet works just like a greenhouse. Almost the half of sunbeams which reach our earth, is reflected rom the ground. Thanks to the common gases like carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, ozone, nitrogen oxide etc. (which are considered as greenhouses), a part of the sun beams are reflecting back to the earth. Tanks to the greenhouse gases which provide a covering function, the ground receives a heat degree of 15°C where people, animals and plants can continue to live. Without this greenhouse gases the average geothermal heat would sink to -18°C. This natural effect of the greenhouse gas is mentioned as “the greenhouse effect”. The proportion of the greenhouse gas in the atmosphere began to rise after industrialization (which started in the years of 1750). The increase in carbon dioxide in the global world is firstly attributed to the usage of fossil fuels. Secondly it’s attributed to the change of the land usage (especially deforestation). According to scientific research, the main cause of global climate change is human activities in greenhouse gas emissions, which leads to an increase on global average temperatures. The main driver of increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is first of all using fossil fuels like coal. Advanced technology, fast production and rapid urbanization, over time the change in human behavior on the expectation of more comfortable life expectancy lead at the same time to increasing of rubbish, which leads to global problems especially to exhaustion of natural resources and climate change. In the last 150 years, global warming has increased by 1°C. Scientists claim, that if global warming would increase by 3 or 4 degrees instead of one-two degrees, “the earth would not be a place to live anymore”.
„OWN MEASURES MUST BE TAKEN“
Tarık Sarvan, CEO of CW Enerji explained that the world is under threat because of climate change and added that climate change is the most effective crisis that mankind expects. Therefore the usage of global climate change and fossil fuels should be reduced as much as possible and human being should focus on renewable energy sources like the sun and wind. Moreover Ms. Sarvan added, that each person should feel the responsibility and show individual efforts for the climate change to reduce these effects. “We have to remember ourselves: actually we are responsible for the climate change and the fight for reducing climate change could be successful through our individual efforts. For example, by using solar panels on your rooftop, you can get your electricity from the sun. By using this system, which has no harmful substances for the environment like fog, gas, carbon monoxide, sulfur and radiation, you can fight against the climate change with your own initiative”, said Tarık Sarvan.
„WITH SOLARENERGY CLIMATE CHANGE COULD BE PREVENT“
Tarık Sarvan explained, that Turkey reaches a total of 2.737 hours of solar radiation per year and the average annual amount of solar energy is 1527 kWh / m², which is a good opportunity for producing electricity by the sun. Moreover he added, that the requirement of world’s electricity can be covered and at this way the risk of climate change could be prevent.
The CEO of CW Enerji emphasized that by 2050 it would be possible to serve the global power supply through sufficient and safe energy production.
He added that there are 120 thousand terawatt (TWh) of usable solar energy available in the world and 100% conversion to renewable energy is possible on a global scale. By conversion to renewable energy the total loss in energy production will be reduced in a high degree with which one can stand against climate change risk. A global electricity system based on a 100% renewable energy could be used the whole year and every hour. Thus the costs of fossil fuels and the currently used systems like nuclear energy will be more low-priced.
Tarık Sarvan, who emphasizes the increasing importance of the solar energy used from year to year, says the following: „While in the 20. Century the world population grows fourfold, the requirement of energy has risen 16 times. For the continuation of today’s standard of living for 7.5 billion people, it requires approximately 13 TW amount of energy. Accordance the done projects for the future, people’s requirement of energy in 2050 will be 10 TW more than today. If you want to get energy without showing any impact on global warming, you would have to build 1 gigawatt (GW) nuclear power plant every day till 2050. As a result, there will be nuclear power plants everywhere and the world will be an unbearable place in terms of climate change. At the same time it will harm our health. The total potential of wind energy in the world is approximately 2-4 TW, the hydropower resource 0,5 TW, geothermal energy source 12 TW, the amount of energy 2 TW which can be generated by tides and ocean currents and the amount of solar energy that can be used in the world is 120.000 TW. This results show the importance of the solar energy usage and that there is already so much solar energy available in our world that people couldn’t consume completely”.
