Full Support for Solar from Bozkurt Municipality and CW Enerji

Denizli Bozkurt Municipality organised the ‘1st Renewable Energy Festival’ under the main sponsorship of CW Enerji on 24-26 August 2018 with the slogan ‘The sun rises from Bozkurt’. Bozkurt Mayor Birsen Çelik, who made an opening speech within the scope of the event, announced the decisions taken by the municipality to expand the use of solar energy throughout the district and announced that they started working with CW Enerji for an additional 1 MW solar power plant. Bozkurt Municipality, which has a 1 MW solar power plant applied in 2015 and commissioned in February 2018, is one of the municipalities where renewable energy has become an important part of local governments.

On the last day of the 1st Renewable Energy Festival organised by Bozkurt Municipality under the sponsorship of CW Enerji, a panel on solar energy was organised with the participation of representatives of energy, local governments and finance sector. Within the scope of the panel titled ‘1st Renewable Energy-Solar Energy’, alternative application areas of solar panels, investment financing and energy cooperatives were discussed.

‘No zoning fee will be charged; special interest loans will be provided’

Bozkurt Mayor Birsen Çelik, who made an opening speech within the scope of the event, announced that the municipality continues to work rapidly to popularise solar energy applications throughout the district. Stating that no zoning fee will be charged from any old and new houses using solar energy, Çelik announced that a type project study will be carried out to accelerate the approval process for roof-type solar energy systems. Stating that bank loans with special interest rates will be provided for solar energy, Çelik announced that the municipality will be a guarantor for the people of the district who want to use solar energy in their residences with loans. Emphasising that local governments can act jointly in renewable energy works with an energy-friendly municipalities union to be established within the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, Çelik said: ‘Thanks to the sun, it will be possible to prevent foreign dependency by reaching national and domestic energy policies.’

Bozkurt Municipality has a 1 MW solar power plant, which was applied for in 2015 and commissioned in February 2018 by CW Enerji on a turnkey basis with panel, engineering and EPC services. It was announced at the event that the municipality, which meets the energy needs of approximately 1,000 households with the solar power plant established on an area of 20 thousand square metres with Iller Bank financing, has started working with CW Enerji for the installation of an additional 1 MW power plant. The 2.5 MW biomass and biogas energy investments will be completed in the near future.

‘Solar investments will contribute to the economy’

Volkan Yılmaz, General Manager of CW Enerji, the sponsor of the festival, informed the participants about the rooftop and self-consumption solar power plant investment and consumption model up to 10 KW, which was opened and facilitated. Underlining that the country has the potential energy to establish a solar power plant with a power of approximately 120,000 TWh in marginal mountain foothills where agriculture cannot be done, Yılmaz said, ‘Energy imports account for most of our country's current account deficit. Energy is an important factor for the economy of our country.’ Informing that the 10 kW rooftop solar power plant application processes have been made quite easy, Yılmaz said the following:

‘Application can be made with a few simple documents and results can be obtained in a short time. For 3 kW roof type solar power plant, a call letter is created immediately, while for applications under 3-10kw, a call letter is created by looking at the transformer capacity. Attention should be paid to the contract power in your electricity bill. You need to apply slightly below this contract power. The first approved GES project under 10kw has been approved 9,55kWe VOLKAN GES and its installation is planned to be realised in a short time. In a 10 kW project, we prefer and recommend at least 11.5-12kW installation. You will not be affected by the increases in electricity with your GES project. You can own a power plant by paying your electricity bill that you pay every month not to the electricity bill, but by paying a loan to the bank. No extra money will come out of your pocket. Do not think only as a roof, you can also install on the car park and pergola. You can also use your solar panels as roofing material with the waterproof solar panel frame system suitable for the roof, which is aCW Enerji R&D product. The clean and endless energy source should be utilised to the fullest from the sun.’
