125 Million Lira Solar Panel Factory in Antalya

Tarık Sarvan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CW Enerji Mühendislik Ticaret ve Anonim Şirketi, a solar panel manufacturer operating in Antalya Organised Industrial Zone, reported that they invested 125 million liras in a new solar panel factory in Antalya.

Sarvan said in a statement that as of the end of 2017, they are the largest company that has invested in this field in Türkiye with a solar panel production capacity of 420 megawatts (mw).

Noting that they decided to build a new factory especially due to the increasing demand from abroad, Sarvan stated that they plan to start the new solar panel factory in Antalya Organised Industrial Zone with a production capacity of 120 mw and increase it up to 1 gigawatt (gw).

Pointing out that the new factory is about to be completed, Sarvan said:

‘Our new factory investment is approximately 125 million liras. We have commitments abroad, for which we are working day and night. We still have projects in the domestic and foreign markets. We export to 13 countries. In order to go abroad, we need to turn to large-scale products. Our new factory with a production capacity of 1 gw will be the largest in Europe. When you sit at the table abroad, the figures they want are 50, 100, 150 mw. They want this in a few months. Our body must be big for us to deliver this goods. Nobody sits and talks to you for 3-5 mw. Hopefully, with the new investment, we will support large investors abroad from Türkiye. With the new factory, we aim to increase the number of countries we export to approximately 40.’

‘Our dream is 100 per cent national solar panel’

Explaining that their dream is 100 percent national solar panels, Sarvan noted that they will take the first step with the new factory. Stating that they have a serious R&D centre for this, Sarvan said, ‘Serious studies are carried out in ourR&D centre from design to producing more efficient panels. There are also projects that we have successfully completed. Our goal is to produce one hundred per cent national solar panels in a few years. In addition, serious studies are being carried out for the storage of solar energy.’

Noting that they currently have approximately one thousand employees, 125 of whom are engineers and half of them are women, Sarvan said that approximately one thousand people will be employed in the new factory.

Reminding that Saudi Arabia has made serious investments in solar energy and aims to generate 150-200 gigawatts of electricity from the sun by 2030, Sarvan said that for this reason, they have increased their negotiations with Saudi Arabia, created dealerships in Morocco, Ukraine, Germany, France and the Netherlands, and started to send goods to some African countries.

Emphasising that the energy need of mankind is increasing, Sarvan said that the greatest potential in energy resources is in the sun. Sarvan said, ‘According to the studies, there is 120 thousand terawatts of energy potential in the sun. In other words, the future of mankind is guaranteed. As long as we can use the sun and store energy.’
